Amin will be a walk-up window located at 2336 E Cherry Street. The concept comes from Tarik Abdullah, a chef with more than 25 years of culinary experience in Seattle and Los Angeles. He is the chef behind Cooka T’s Kitchen, a vegan food stand at Lumen Field. He is also at the helm of Feed the People, a community kitchen that offers programs for youth and provides food to those in need.
The name of the new eatery pays homage to Abdullah’s family, with “Amin” being his father’s middle name. The menu will include multiethnic cuisine from regions of the Middle East, South East Asia and more, showcasing “dishes inspired by his Seattle roots and love for spices.”
All meat and poultry will be halal, and expect plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. There will also be a student menu for attendees of the nearby Garfield High School and Nova High School, featuring a $10 flatbread with mozzarella, halal pepperoni, sweet peppers and red sauce, and $10 nachos made up of corn chips, jackfruit meat and harissa cheese sauce.
A GoFundMe campaign is seeking support for the new eatery. “While construction progresses smoothly, additional funding is required to ensure a successful launch and cover initial operational expenses such as payroll and food costs for the first few months,” according to the campaign.
Ahead of opening, Amin has been doing regular pop-ups at the nearby Métier Brewing Company, serving items like rose harissa chicken and semolina cake.
