While an official opening date has yet to be released, according to Shug’s Facebook post from September, their original goal opening date for Shug’s Mini has since passed without opening in October.
Shug’s describes itself as not just an ice cream parlor; it’s a place that invites you to step back in time while savoring modern, delicious treats. Founded in May 2016 by Seattle natives Colleen Wilkie and Paul Dormann, Shug’s is a delightful blend of nostalgia, scrumptious sundaes, refreshing sodas, and tempting floats—all within the inviting embrace of a beautiful, light, and modern space.
They state that at Shug’s, it’s all about the details. You’ll discover house-made syrups, sauces, and toppings that elevate your ice cream experience to a whole new level. Their ice cream is sourced from the renowned Lopez Island Creamery, known for its small-batch and independent approach to crafting creamy delights.
Shug’s also provides the option for patrons to enjoy their ice cream cart, affectionately called “Bubbles.” Said to be the ultimate traveling cart on wheels, everything you need to add sweetness to your next event is provided. With their customizable menu, you can choose up to 6 different ice cream flavors, with the option to include ice cream cocktails, champagne floats, sundae topping bar, or ice cream soda floats.
But Shug states that it isn’t just about ice cream; it’s a place for everyone. With organic coffee, an array of beer and wine selections, and even inventive ice cream cocktails, you’re sure to find something that tickles your taste buds, according to the company website.
