A representative of Frelard Tamales & El Suenito Brewing Company was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Seattle’s request.

While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, according to El Suenito’s website, behind the two concepts are Osbaldo Hernandez and Dennis Ramey.

“Dennis grew up in Seattle and has lived in Ballard his entire life. After working for over seven years as a Cancer Research Scientist, Dennis decided to pursue a career in brewing. He completed his Master Brewer Certificate from UC Davis and worked at Hellbent Brewing as a brewer.”

“Osbaldo was born in Mexico and moved to the U.S. at the age of 11. He is a former high school teacher who worked in three different school districts with unhoused students and families. Osbaldo was undocumented for over nine years before becoming a citizen after going through a long and painful immigration process.”

“We are a new brewery in town but we are not new to this industry. We’ve been business owners since 2015 when we opened Frelard Tamales in Seattle. Since then, our business values have been rooted in three important anchors: building community, remaining humble, and celebrating culture.”

“Just like tamales, immigrants make the United States great. We are a gay, family-owned business that appreciates and respects the beauty of all people and recognizes that each one of us help make this country great,” Frelard Tamales’ website adds.
