While an official opening date and what the new location will mean for Darby Winery has yet to be released, Darby’s started back in 2002, founded by Darby English.
With an unwavering passion for fine wines, he decided to explore the art of winemaking further. His adventures led him through the picturesque vineyards of Bordeaux, the sun-kissed estates of Napa Valley, and the Old World charm of Tuscany, all in pursuit of the knowledge and expertise required to create wines that would leave a lasting impression.
Darby’s winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in the traditional winemaking techniques he has acquired over the years. Yet, it is also influenced by his innate desire to innovate and push the boundaries of what Washington’s fertile lands have to offer. His approach is one of meticulous precision, as he hand-selects each grape to ensure the highest quality, allowing nature’s inherent beauty to shine through in every bottle.
The winery specializes in creating small-lot, artisanal wines. Darby Winery’s portfolio boasts an impressive array of wines, each representing the epitome of craftsmanship and quality. Whether it’s the rich and velvety Cabernet Sauvignon, the aromatic and graceful Viognier, or the bold and charismatic Syrah, every bottle tells a story of meticulous care and unparalleled dedication to the craft.
“Darby opened his Woodinville tasting room in 2006 and expanded production to 1,200 cases. As early as 2007, he received national acclaim from Wine Spectator. In 2012 Darby opened his Hollywood schoolhouse tasting room.”
