“I’m planning to open by the end of March, but hopefully will be able to sooner. I have the idea of expanding the menu since we are going to be open six days a week and ten hours per day from 8 AM to 6 PM Tuesday through Saturdays, and 9 AM to 6 PM Sundays, with a special Argentine brunch dish exclusively on Sundays,” owner Rodrigo Cappagli told What Now Seattle.

“We will be adding more Argentine items such as salads, sandwiches, medialunas (Argentinan croissants that are sweet and delicious, and of course empanadas, many of them. We will also offer alcoholic beverages, local beers, local wines, and espresso drinks such as lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, etc. with great equipment and staff.”

“Families are welcome and there will be a lot of futbol! I’ve been the owner for about 14 years. It all started with Maria Luisa, my grandmother and almost a second mother to me. She was there to help you in any way, she was always the pillar of the whole family, she knew everything and had her opinion on everything,” Rodrigo said with a laugh.

“She was a big part of my inspiration for cooking, living here in the U.S. I always missed their dishes! When she made empanadas for family gatherings on Sundays, we were all left with our mouths open in shock at how delicious María Luisa’s empanadas were. I want to share a little of it and opening the first Maria Luisa Empanadas store in Ballard is magical! It’s a dream come true!”
