According to a recent permit filing, a new establishment called Kirin Restaurant is set to open its doors in Renton at 423 Airport Way.
A representative of Kirin Restaurant was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Seattle’s request.
While an official opening date and overall information on what is to come with Kirin’s opening have yet to be released, according to yokai.com, “Kirin was introduced to Japan via Chinese myths and legends where they are known as qilin. Over time, the Chinese and Japanese versions diverged into slightly different creatures. In Japan, the kirin is considered to be the most powerful and sacred beast of all, surpassing the hōō and tatsu.”
The kirin is described as no ordinary creature; it’s stated to be a fantastical and chimerical being, often revered as something akin to a god. With a physical form resembling a deer, its body is adorned with dragon-like scales, creating an otherworldly fusion of traits. The kirin boasts a distinctive tail reminiscent of an ox and a flowing.
According to Loop Net, the space is described as a redevelopment property, with a trajectory of a mixed-use space for retail and a hotel. The property was originally built in 1949 and is two stories, with approximately 12,300 square feet of space.
