“We should be opening our doors soon, depending on our liquor licensing process,” William told What Now Seattle, “I started brewing when I was 21 and got some of the equipment and thought that it was time to sell some of my work.”

Toivonen stated that the space will be small, but will have limited indoor seating with a focus on the outdoor beer garden. The beer garden will host a variety of outdoor games, such as horseshoes, and seating to enjoy Feral Brewing’s beer options. A spotlight will be placed on the options to purchase growlers as well.

For those that are unfamiliar with growlers, a growler is a reusable container, typically made of glass, ceramic, or stainless steel, designed to transport and store draft beer. Its origins can be traced back to the 1800s when growlers were used to carry beer from the local tavern to one’s home. The term “growler” is said to have originated from the rumbling sound the beer made as it sloshed around in the metal pail or container while being transported, akin to the growls of a dog.

Growlers provide many benefits, but a top list would be for their sustainability, freshness, customization, and variety. When you fill your growlers at the brewery, you are essentially capturing the beer at its peak. With sustainability, in an era where environmental consciousness is on the rise, growlers offer a sustainable alternative to single-use packaging like cans and bottles. Unlike committing to a full six-pack or case of a single beer, growlers also allow customers to sample a diverse range of beers in smaller quantities.
